Got out for an hour at 3pm after all the clients had finally got on the water.

Brill session. Much windier than yesterday. Perfectly powered up on my 5.2, sometimes a fraction overpowered. On a tiny board though so no problems. Lots of people out, friends and clients at the club who I now know quite well so a real good laff. You know everyone is loving it and the conditions are something a bit special when at one point all the people standing in the shallows by the beach with their kit spontaneously started whooping childlishly, including myself....

Generally lots of well-powered up blasting over the rolling swell was the theme of the day, with loads of big-mumma jumps thrown in for good measure. Starting to get the hand of jumping out of the harness, controlling the board mid-air and landing off the wind now, so much fewer spin-out problems. Don´t know exactly how big some of my jumps were, but they felt pretty huge, hanging in the air for a couple of seconds.

No chance of pulling off any normal gybes on the outside in the huge swell, so started going for controlled slam-gybes instead. Some success, got round and up into the clew-first position but couldn´t control it then and flip the rig. Maybe will be easier on a slightly bigger board.

Decided my duck gybes needed to be dusted off and practised a bit, so went for them on the inside. Again some success, was grabbing the other side of the boom OK but then falling in to the inside of the turn. Still, they went a lot better than I thought they would so really want to nail them now. Will try them again tomorrow. Certainly seem easier than carve gybes when it´s honking.

To put the icing on the cake, finished off the session on my last run out with a huge mid-air catapult. Went for a jump off a big ramp, bore away mid-jump but realised I was still hooked in, kept on inadvertadly bearing away, shat myself, then.....wham! Fortunately no damage to kit or self. Would have been a forward if my feet had stayed in the straps....honest.....

No walk/swim back to the club at the end! Woohoo!

Overall a cracking session. Definitely my best here so far. Would have got 5 stars if I had been more successful with my gybes.
